Modern electric cars

A modern electric car is a full-fledged vehicle that runs on electric power and does not use gasoline or diesel fuel. It is equipped with an electric motor and a set of batteries that power it. It is a new generation of cars that are becoming increasingly popular among motorists around the world.
Electric cars are characterized by high technology and comfort. They are equipped with the most advanced safety and control systems. Some models even have an autopilot system that allows them to drive on the roads independently.

Main differences between an electric vehicle and a car with an internal combustion engine

The main difference is that these two variants of cars have different types of engines and use different power sources.

• An electric vehicle uses an electric motor that runs on batteries to drive, while an internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle uses a motor that runs on gasoline or diesel.

• The electric car does not have a fuel tank and does not emit harmful substances into the atmosphere, which makes it environmentally friendly unlike a car with an internal combustion engine.

• An electric vehicle is more efficient because the electric motor has a higher coefficient of performance (COP) than an internal combustion engine. This means that it can travel more distance per unit of battery charge than an internal combustion engine vehicle per unit of fuel.

As technology advances and charging station infrastructure improves, electric cars are becoming more and more popular, and may become the primary means of transportation in the future.

The merits of electric cars:

• Environmental friendliness.
They do not emit harmful gases such as carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxide and sulfur dioxide, which are major air pollutants. Therefore, if you choose an electric car when buying a car, you will be doing your part in the fight for a cleaner environment.

• Cost-effectiveness.
They run on electricity, which is much cheaper than gasoline or diesel fuel. In addition, these vehicles do not require regular engine maintenance, which significantly reduces maintenance costs.

• Convenience and comfort.
They operate quietly and do not create noise, thus not annoying the driver and passengers, nor the people around them. The electric motor has a high torque, which makes the vehicle more maneuverable and easy to drive.

• Innovativeness.
They are equipped with advanced technologies, including automatic control systems, information and entertainment systems. They also have advanced safety systems, making them more reliable and safer on the road.

Disadvantages of electric cars:

• Limited range.
In most cases, the range is no more than 400 km. This means that it is difficult and problematic to use them for long journeys, especially if there are no charging stations along the way.

• Long battery charging time.
Normally, rechargeable batteries take several hours to charge, which is extremely inconvenient for traveling and long trips. Even with accelerated charging, at least an hour will be required.

• High cost.
They are much more expensive than conventional cars with internal combustion engines. This is due to the fact that expensive technologies and materials are used in their production.

• Reduced battery charging rate in cold weather.
Batteries operate less efficiently at low temperatures, resulting in dramatically longer charging times.

• Insufficient infrastructure development.
Today, in most countries of the world, the infrastructure for charging vehicles with electric motors is actually in its infancy. This means that charging stations are not available everywhere, nor are they always accessible for use due to technical limitations.

Impact of batteries on the human body sitting in the cabin of an electric vehicle

It must be recognized that there are certain risks associated with placing a large number of batteries in a vehicle.

First, batteries can emit certain chemicals such as hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide. These substances are harmful to human health, especially if their concentration in the vehicle interior is high enough. Although battery manufacturers try to minimize the amount of these substances, they can still enter the passenger compartment.

Secondly, batteries get hot during charging and use, which can cause the temperature in the passenger compartment to rise significantly. This is especially dangerous for children and the elderly, who are more sensitive to high temperatures.

Despite these risks, many researchers believe that batteries are generally safe for occupants. However, to minimize the risks, they should be used and charged properly, and the interior should be periodically ventilated.
